Remedy for cold and cough in winter

Remedies that will help you feel better

Even if your cold symptoms are minor, can make you feel miserable. While it may be tempting to pursue the latest treatment, the best thing you can do is to take charge of your own health. Rest, drink plenty of water, and keep your surroundings moist. Most importantly, keep your hands clean at all times.

You should expect to feel unwell for about a week or so if you develop a cold. That does not mean that you should feel unhappy during that time. These solutions may assist you in feeling better:

Stay Hydrated: Water, juice, clear broth, or warm lemon water with honey will assist ease congestion while also keeping you hydrated. Avoid alcoholic beverages, coffee, and caffeinated sodas, as they can exacerbate dehydration

Drink hot liquids: Taking warm liquids, such as chicken soup, tea, or warm apple juice, as a cold cure may be comforting and may alleviate congestion by boosting mucus movement.

Rest! Rest! Rest! Rest is necessary for your body to heal.

Saltwater gargle: will soothe a sore or scratchy throat by dissolving 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt in an 8-ounce glass of warm water. Children under the age of six are unlikely to be able to correctly gargle.

Saline and Nasal Drops and Sprays: Get rid of the stuffiness. These sprays and drops will help you get rid of stuffiness and congestion.

Take advantage of the natural sweetener-Honey! Coughs in adults and children over the age of one may be helped by honey. Try it in a cup of hot tea.

Increase the amount of moisture in the air. A cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier can help relieve congestion by adding moisture to your house. Clean the machine according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and change the water every day.

Though tempting, what must be avoided at all costs are antibiotics and over-the-counter drugs as they are ineffective. Antibiotics attack bacteria but do nothing against cold viruses, and therefore, sadly, you won’t feel better any faster, and inappropriate use of antibiotics could cause serious health complications.

Typically, you would take some drug to treat the symptoms and stay vigilant till you recover. But at a time when we’re dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic, there’s always the fear that cough, cold, or fever could be the signs of the dreaded virus. Make sure that you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. Stay home and self-isolate, until you recover.

Wish you Good Health!
